Knowledge Politics and New Converging Technologies; A Social Science Perspective
Science fiction is looking less like fiction with new developments in nanotechnology, biotechnology, information technology and cognitive science (NBIC). If the proponents of NBIC 'convergence' are correct, emerging technologies may point to radical transformations in the natural world and in the very meaning of 'humanity'. This project is a study into the knowledge and anticipated social consequences emerging from the NBIC fields. It looks into patterns of NBIC knowledge production as well as the actual and potential use of and social resistance to such knowledge.
