(Closed) International Experts Meeting
22 April 2008, Paris, France
The meeting is intended to stimulate creative discussion on the main research questions being addressed by the SSH-Futures project. Its modus operandi is a mixture of short introductory speeches, open discussions among all participants and panel discussions. Three major topics of utmost importance for social science research will structure the meeting’s course.
The state of and conditions for social science research systems in Europe.
What are the main shaping forces for European social science?
Pathways to policy
What do we know about the flows of social science knowledge into policy and practice, and what can be done to improve those flows?
Social science’s global future?
If social, political, economic and technological change is seen as strongly shaped by processes of globalization, can social sciences be immune to those same forces, and if not, what are the implications?
Additionally we will present and discuss the outcome of the survey among social science and humanities researchers in Europe conducted in the frame of the SSH-Futures project.
Participants:
SSH-Futures project partners, presidents and/or secretary-generals of ISSC member organizations, the coordinators of two related EU-funded projects (Global-SSH and ESSE), as well as representatives of the European Commission and the European Science Foundation are invited to participate in the meeting.
The final programme will be available soon.
