| Objectives |
The study investigated the role of cities in the transformation process underway in the countries of East Central Europe with a specific emphasis on how the economic and political changes influence the development of urban infrastructure. Case studies focussing on Prague, Budapest and Cracow document and analyze the relation between competition and cooperation among the Central European cities as well as the general tendency towards internationalization. In this context, the role of Austria, and especially Vienna, was of specific interest. In analyzing the complexity of inter-urban relations the study shows different attempts which are made to create a 'city network' in the 'new' Central European space. |
