Sunday, June 2nd 2002

Arrival Day

Participants are encouraged to make arrangements to arrive to Vienna and subsequently travel to Semmering already on Sunday. Semmering can be reached by train from the Vienna South Train Station (accessible from the Vienna airport by either taxi or bus). There is a regular service and the trip lasts one and a half hour. Details regarding the time plan will be provided separately. A shuttle bus from the Vienna airport to Semmering will also be organised for those arriving to Vienna airport late on Sunday evening, at around 18.00 hours. A second shuttle will be available for late arrivals on Monday morning at around 11.00 hours.

Monday, June 3rd 2002

14.00 to 16.00	General Introductory Session The Foresight for Transport Project Goals and Agenda of the Expert Panel Consultations Setting the Consultations into Context: Contemporary Transport Developments and Trends and the European Transport Policy towards Sustainable Mobility
16.00 to 18.00	Introductory Session for Energy and Environment Initial presentation of the experiences and contributions of all the members. Brief description of the next sessions. Introduction to FORESIGHT for Transport , IST, trends, global vision, key points, and others
18.00	End of First Day
20.00 to 22.00	Dinner

Tuesday, June 4th 2002

9:45 - 11:00	Seperation in small groups Deceide one vocal person in each group Work separately about the description of the: 'Drivers', and 'Issues' and their 'temporal and spatial dimension' Write a short summary up in each group.
11:00 - 12:00	Meeting together Presentation of the results Exchange of impressions
12:00 - 12:30	Process all the information and write the draft of the final matrix
12:30 - 14:30	Lunch
14:30 - 14:45	Description of the exercise
14:45 - 15:45	Work in groups about the importance and priority of Contemporary trend development Desired trend-breaks Sub-sectors inside transport area Scope of Policy intervention Others

14:45 - 15:45	Initial work in groups about some general questions: Which could be the 'Stategic Goals' and the 'Orientations' of the future Transport development? Where we could go? What could be the priorities of the possible options? What are the implications of the areas involved? (according to the experts assisting) What point must be included in the future Policy?
15:45 - 17:30	Meeting together Presentation of the results Exchange of impressions Process all the information and write the draft of the final matrix

Thursday, June 6th 2002

9:45 - 11:00	Summary of the before days work results Situation and explication of the point that will be targeted during this day: How to achieve the points determined the before days? A brief discussion with all members.
10:30 - 11:30	Work in groups about the definition of: Options to achieve the strategic options identified Instruments implicated (regulatory, economic themes, social and civil requirements, actors) Technology Roles Actors Others List of main points discussed
11:30 - 12:30	Meeting together Analysis of the options writed: Impact Relevance Others Exchange of impressions Process all the information and write the draft of the final matrix
12:30 - 14:30	Lunch
14:30 - 14:45	Description of the exercise
14:45 - 15:45	Initial work in groups about the next questions: Which could be the 'Indicators' and 'Measures' o check the points treated before? Definition, selection, quantification, implications, benefits, apponents, difficulties, alternative options, synergies... Which could be the monitoring system to control the correct development? How could be quantify the indicators chose? What could be the implications of their implementation? (according to the experts assisting) What point must be included in the future Policy?
15:45 - 17:30	Meeting together Discuss about all the results. Exchange of impressions. Process all the information and write the draft of the final matrix Decide an actor to report the results to the total group.

Friday, June 7th 2002 - Joint Parallel Sessions

The objective of this final panel session is to jointly discuss the findings of the parallel sessions paying attention to the interfaces and towards cross-sectoral integration.

 

09.30 to 11.00	Reports from parallel sessions - Summary of findings
11:00 to 12:30	Discussion on interfaces Report on next steps (preparation of consultation documents, organisation of Delphi survey, follow-up of consultation in 2003).
12.30 to 14.00	Lunch break
14.00	End of Meeting

Two shuttle buses will be organised at 14.30 to bring participants back from Semmering to Vienna or Vienna airport. Alternatively participants can take the train back to Vienna.

Those wishing to stay on either in Semmering or Vienna for the weekend and wishing assistance with accommodation should inform the organisers well in advance to make arrangements.
