The ECHP is a representative panel survey on the social situation of ~60.000 households in currently 14 European countries, which is co-ordinated by EUROSTAT.

The Austrian part of the ECHP is conducted by ICCR with the support of Statistics Austria. Fieldwork is done jointly by the market research institutes IFES and Fessel/Gfk. The project is co-financed by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.

The ECHP is the most detailed source on the distribution of social transfers and household incomes in Austria but also covers extensively labour issues, housing, education, and includes social indicators on other important domains. The sample comprises ~3.000 private households.
